Fuerteventura is the oldest island (about 38 million years) of the archipelago and the closest to Africa, only 100km (62 miles).
Puerto del Rosario is its capital. It was founded in 1797 with the name of Puerto Cabras.

Its landscape of open plains, palm groves, windmills and small towns has its greatest appeal in its long and extraordinary beaches of golden sand, being the preferred place mainly by windsurfers.

The most important places are the Jandía’s beach, Sotavento (in the south), the Corralejo’s beach (at the north), Playa Blanca, Caleta de Fuste, Gran Tarajal and Tarajalejo in the south.

Its goats, the significant symbol of the island, are the main character of the delicious majorero cheese which is a recognized product around Spain and above all in the archipelago.

The Islote de Lobos is a must within the places to visit. Small protected island is located north of Fuerteventura and barely separated from Lanzarote. An ideal place for diving, walking or having a meal at the sole working restaurant in the islet.

Fuerteventura is a real paradise where you can rest.
